International School Award
10 Oct 2011 - 1:16pm
Ernest Bevin College has received the International School Award from the British Council. To be eligible for the award, EBC had to demonstrate international links across the curriculum and that an international ethos is embedded in the school.
At EBC pupils learn to appreciate cultural diversity. Through international learning activities in different departments, our pupils are given the opportunity to discover other cultures, understand them and above all respect them.
"I am proud of the hard work that has gone into preparing for this award, especially as we were told our application was 'Outstanding'," said Ms Dorecly, head of Modern Foreign Languages and coordinator of international activities. "It showed that as a college we prepare students not only to achieve the highest academic results, but also to become global citizens."
Projects have included trips to Paris, Barcelona, Mumbai and China as well as Year 7 pen friends with a school in Zanzibar and links with a school in Turkey.
