We welcome you to Ernest Bevin College at an exciting time in its development. Our 2009 Year 11 students have just gained the best ever results achieved by the college and place us in the category of 'Sixth Most Improved School in the Country'. Amongst the considerable data that is collected by and from schools is the impressive fact that over 80% of them achieved standards that qualify them for progression to advanced level courses in sixth forms or colleges. In addition our sixth formers achieved our best 'A' level results and many are now off to universities to study a wide range of subjects.
The college now has a strong reputation for the achievements of pupils and we are determined that each year will be more successful than the previous one. This reputation has been earned by committed adults and young people working together in an ambitious environment. If you, on behalf of your son, are offered and accept a place at the college we guarantee that he will be challenged to achieve within a wide range of opportunities.
Ernest Bevin College has been a specialist college for Sport since 2000. As a consequence of its improvement in academic achievement, the college was offered a second specialism in Mathematics and Computing in 2004. New Sixth Form facilities and a sports complex, which includes a new swimming pool, large sports hall, a fitness suite and a dojo opened in September 2007. These new facilities enhanced opportunities not only for our pupils but also for our local community.
Our college has a vibrant atmosphere and a strong ethos; it has high expectations of all its community and a culture of achievement. Pupils are expected to identify proudly with Ernest Bevin and to want success for themselves, for their families and for the college.
