Performing Arts - Lunchtime concert March 2012

• Just before the Easter break, musicians at the college treated parents, staff and students to a Lunchtime concert.
• Sixth Former, David performed a song he had composed and written himself.
• As well as individual lessons, the musicians have the chance to work in a variety of ensembles during the lunchtime, including this Jazz band.
• The Jazz band performed a piece called "Watermelon Man".
• There were a number of opportunities for talented soloists in the piece.
• A wide variety of instruments are taught in college including the Tabla drums which originate from India.
• The school band is an ensemble of instruments including violins and wind instruments.
• A number of the musicians also go on to take Trinity College Music exams in their instruments.
• Students are able to learn the piano and practice at the college.
• A number of boys have excellent singing voices and they are encouraged to perform both individually and in groups such as this to work on harmonies.
